Through the Looking Glass...

The rates of children being diagnosed with an Autism Spectum Disorder are increasing at an alarming rate. There are many 'camps' out there and many theories... but the bottom line is what *is* Autism, and how can we best help the child or adult involved? This page is meant to take a closer look at the various issues that familes and educators involed with ASD kids deal with everyday.

The PDD Umbrella
Autism is a Pervasive Developmental Delay. It's not "one" thing. It has many faces and names, and ranges. Autistic Disorder, HFA, PDD-NOS and Asperger's Syndrome are the most common diagnosis. Childhood Disintegrative Disorder and Rett's Syndrome are also under the PDD/Autism Umbrella. Fragile X is thought to be related.
